Education & Credentials

Christine Stearns is an experienced and dedicated family law attorney, with a family law career spanning nearly fifteen years. She graduated from the University of California at Davis with a degree in English Literature, and later, from the University of Connecticut School of Law with a Juris Doctor. In law school, she was introduced to family law through her internships in the Family Law division of Legal Aid and her work for Judge Herbert Barall, a family law judge. Christine is a member of the Georgia, California, and Oregon Bar Associations.

"I understand it is probably frightening to hire someone who you don’t know to assist you in what is typically one of the most difficult and personal experiences of your life. But you can rest assured that I do my utmost to get you to not just a better place at the end of the process but the best place possible, and that I do it with attention to detail, doggedness, and empathy." - Christine

Legal Background

Christine started her career in the San Francisco Bay Area before moving with her family to Georgia. She has effectively and successfully handled a myriad of family law cases including divorce, paternity, restraining orders, pre and postnuptial agreements, and modification actions. Before moving to Georgia, she passed the California Family Law Specialist's Exam and worked on a variety of cases with complicated jurisdictional and domestication issues, both domestically and internationally.  Her experience ranges from relatively simple cases to those with extremely high assets to ones with complicated custody matters. She has successfully handled numerous hearings and mediations on her own, and been the lead attorney on full trials.

Beyond her practice, she has devoted significant time to pro bono initiatives, including as a volunteer for the San Francisco Justice & Diversity Center, the San Francisco Homeless Shelter Arbitration Board, and more recently, Georgia Legal Services Program. She has been twice formally recognized for her pro bono work as a recipient of the Justice and Diversity's Outstanding Volunteer Award.
